Hands-on Labs
Network Pentest Lab — Intermediate
Conduct a full penetration test on a simulated network infrastructure: reconnaissance, service exploitation, pivoting and privilege escalation.
Duration
6h
Level
Intermediate
Category
Hands-on Labs
Prerequisites
Knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP) and basic experience with Kali Linux or Parrot OS.
What you will learn
- Conduct active and passive reconnaissance on a target network
- Scan and enumerate exposed services with Nmap and complementary tools
- Exploit vulnerabilities in common network services (FTP, SMB, SSH)
- Set up a pivoting tunnel to reach isolated network segments
- Perform local privilege escalation and document findings
Program
Reconnaissance and network mapping
Active host discovery, port scanning, OS and service fingerprinting with Nmap, Masscan and Netdiscover.
Service enumeration
SMB, FTP, SSH, HTTP enumeration — banner grabbing, accessible shares, exposed users.
Vulnerable service exploitation
Using Metasploit and manual exploits to compromise an initial host via recent CVEs.
Post-exploitation and pivoting
Maintaining access, system information gathering, setting up SSH/Chisel tunnels to pivot into an internal network.
Privilege escalation and reporting
Linux/Windows escalation techniques, final flag capture, writing a structured penetration test report.
Who is this for?
Why on CyberAct?
The lab network infrastructure is built on multiple interconnected VMs in distinct VLANs, provisioned on demand. Each learner gets their own isolated environment to avoid interference. CyberAct's AI generator can create network topology variants adapted to your sector.
